Hanna Heim Todd Ward Bio 2101 October 19, 2023 Chapter 6 Hands-On Lab Integument Histology Instructions In this exercise, you will be gaining “hands-on” experience with histology slides through a web-based resource called HistologyGuide .org . You will be navigating through a wide variety of tissue sections at various magnifications just as you would if you were using a physical microscope. For each tissue listed, you will be asked to locate and label a specific set of structures. To document your work, please follow these steps: Locate the specific tissue/structures at the specified magnification. Take a screenshot of the image by clicking on the down arrow next to “Select View” in the top-right of the microscope view. Label the required structures on the image. Click the blue box to insert your saved image file (or insert image and then label). Save the completed document as a .pdf and upload it into the appropriate MyCourses Assignment Folder. Important Note on Academic Honesty All labelled images must represent your own original work and may not be copied from another student or images found online. Each image should include your initials in the corner using the same digital pen/tool used for labelling structures. Page 1 of 10

NOTE: Carefully explore your slides below and focus on a region on the slide you want to document. It is important that you locate a good section before you begin the labelling process. Take a screenshot of the tissue at 10x with all of the following structures in view. Label each structure listed, and insert your labelled image in the box below. 1. stratum corneum 2. stratum lucidum 3. stratum granulosum 4. stratum spinosum 5. stratum basale 6. dermis Page 4 of 10
