Ministry Concerns
2
Leading ministry is one of the most satisfying duties a person can have. At times, things will go perfectly. The elders lead, the preachers teach the Bible, and the congregation is receptive
to Christ. Then they are challenging times leaders will encounter, such as embezzlement, infidelities, and abuse in the church. Like all organizations, it takes a group of competent individuals to set the standard so others can follow. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to hold many positions in the church. I was an usher, team leader, deacon, and outreach director. I am currently a youth pastor and Sunday school teacher. As a Pastor, I oversee the spiritual well-
being of over 100 believers. Each ministry member has their personality, making my job enjoyable. An overseer is a leader in the church that exercises spiritual authority over a congregation. Overseers are also responsible for preaching, teaching, counseling, and praying for
the members of their church.

I believe every church leader should strive to become an overseer for the church.
1 Tim. 3:1–3 (English Standard Version) states:
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-
minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
My goal is to one day become the lead Pastor of the church. I enjoy leading, developing, and mentoring those in of spiritual guidance. I am a bi-vocational minister because I am a member of
the United States Army. After retirement, I plan on becoming a vocational minister, which will give me the time to become available to my minister every day.
