When it came to comparing it was a little hard. They all talked about the same thing just showed it in two different ways. Some would be more drastic while others were more of just a description and a picture. I ended up having to watch some videos so that way I could get a better feel for what happened. The most interesting one would be the docs. Provided by Marsha P Johnson, the leader of the entire thing. Describe one narrative that has significantly influenced the contemporary understanding of your historical event. The one that was talking about Marsha helped me have the best understanding of Stonewall. Simply because she had started the entire thing. She was the leader that everyone during that time looked up to, she also had a lot going on in general because this was not the only thing that she was fighting for, she had an HIV/AIDS campaign, homes for the youth LGBTQ+, gay rights, and other things. She’s such an inspiration, as I’m going to school for substance abuse and want to help LGBTQ+ youth and drug usage/suicide prevention.
Explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical research question. Please provide your revised research question and then explain how the chosen narrative helps you better understand your historical event. What was to gain from the destruction caused by the Stonewall riots? I ended up doing my research on the stone wall, which took place in New York, on June 28, 1969. Being part of the LGBTQ+ I thought that it would be interesting to learn more about my culture. I knew that the stone wall had happened, but I didn't know who started it, the impact it had on the world, what they had gone through, and many other things. I thought that it would be important for me to gain more knowledge. That way I learn, become more educated on the topic and learn to not be biased when in conversations with others.
