Within Laugier’s primary source he explained the importance in understanding the 'true' origins of architecture in the 18th century. He did so by explaining now with artists were rebuilding with the idea of the past, but covering the rich beauty beneath. in other words, there was no order or symmetry within the architecture designed and all sense of hierarchy was lost. Laugier mentions now artists must restore order by remembering the basics and from which they came from because architecture will be able to he distinguished for its beauty rather than the ornaments and grandeur. A case study that demonstrates the author's ideas very well is Giambattista Piranesi's le Vedute - The Campo Vaccino. This artwork expressed the importance of the ancient ruins and the idea of glorifying the past. Through the art, emotions were able to enhanced for the loss of these ancient buildings, expressing that the order of what was should be restored.

The Neoclassical style served as a French tool because it was able to demonstrate the use of Roman and Greek architecture in a way that made sense for the French. Neoclassicism emphasized this idea of order which was absent during the Naroque era. The idea that France was being controlled big a monarch rather than a pope was also in consideration during this era. In addition, The architecture was able to express ideas of Roman and Greek architecture while still bang classical and royal to represent the ideals and values of France.in a way The Louvre was a turning point in French architecture because it demonstrated the advances of Neoclassicism being used within France.
