,
it was like I was
there in person
. I
f you want to see a specific artwork you can search and it easily
come
s
up. The artwork I choose is called
palden lhamo
. Use correct artwork title
format.
I expect to learn about the Himalayan Buddhist religion and culture.
The
artwork i viewed
FORMAL ANALYSIS
The artform is a sculpture and the
style is
representational
.
T
he religion is
Himalayan Buddhist
for both cultural and subject.
The sculpture is gold and it’s a
horse with a woman on top riding through the sea followed by demons
.
Three
elements used are line, shape and texture
.
The implied lines form mountain-like
pieces around the base. The shapes are organic because they are shaped like
human beings and animals
.
and The texture is bumpy because there are many 3D
details. Three principles used are pattern, unity and balance. There is a pattern of
peaks around the base. It’s all
joined together and its all made of metal which
gives the object unity. The whole sculpture is asymmetrically balanced.
CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL CONTEXT
You need to write P3 about the culture and religion, and any historical events all
within the time from 1795 to 1805.
The country would be Tibet. See the essay
from DMA. The culture and the religion can be combined for this paragraph.
INTERPRETATION
This paragraph must be based on the religious meaning of the artwork. Use your
sources for that. She is a goddess and has very specific attributes and meaning.
Then you can add your personal interpretation.
The meaning of the artwork is that
women are the protectors and bring death into who she wishes, she rides her
horse through the sea with demons following her.
CONCLUSION
Must expand but ok.
Yes I enjoyed the artwork visually its like I seen it in person ,
no my assumptions haven’t changed I agree with the meaning I actually think it
cool and powerful i like how they used unique materials for the sculpture.
You must include 3 quotes or paraphrases (almost quotes) between P3 and P4.
Each of those must have an in-text citation. Example:
“Lhamo is the city goddess
of Lhasa and the principal protector of the Gelukpa sect of Varayhana Buddhism
and the Dalai Lamas of Tibet.” (DMA-Cultures & Traditions)
paragraph continues…
In the WORKS CITED the citation would look like this:
I added a source, another short essay from the DMA. That makes 4 different DMA
citations. Read each of them, but only use the information that fits the essay. You
must focus on the artwork, the goddess and what she represents in the Tibetan
Buddhist religion and culture. Mrs. A
