Running head: JOURNAL 1 Week 4 – Journal Gennie Moeller ANT 101: Introduction to Cultural Anthropology Instructor: Evangelia Tsesmeli October 1, 2022
JOURNAL 2 My initial response to the source that I had read for my paper was that they were very interesting. Both articles that I read for my paper informed me of new information about different cultures and their religion. According to Lampe (2010). “The four books under review reflect the current state of the anthropology of Christianity in that they represent geographic, epistemological, and theoretical diversity.” (p. 68). In other words, my first source is about Christianity and its background. According to Ryan (2011) “This article aims to examine how individuals react to collective stigmatization. In the context of heightened suspicion and anti-Islamic stereotypes in the post 9/11 and 7/7 era,1 the article draws upon interviews with women of diverse Muslim backgrounds in London to explore experiences and negotiations of stigma.” (p. 1045). In other words, my second source is about Muslim and its background. Miner`s discussion of Americans will help me take an outsider’s perspective on my own culture because he is describing what they see when they think of my culture which is a culture that he`s not familiar with. . Learning about other cultural customs helped me to better appreciate how prejudice and a lack of variety are caused by narrow-mindedness. You will only ever learn more about the things you already know if you don't enjoy discovering new information and concepts. One of my prejudices toward cultural practices is the general Muslim background, which I shall cover in either part I or part II of my final research paper. I didn't know much about Muslims, what they do, or why they do it, but after reading about it, I'm starting to get a better understanding of it. I have yet to experience anything from the etic perspective of my culture or the emic perspective of the other culture.

JOURNAL 4 Footnotes 1 [Add footnotes, if any, on their own page following references. For APA formatting requirements, it’s easy to just type your own footnote references and notes. To format a footnote reference, select the number and then, on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, click Footnote Reference. The body of a footnote, such as this example, uses the Normal text style. (Note: If you delete this sample footnote, don’t forget to delete its in-text reference as well. That’s at the end of the sample Heading 2 paragraph on the first page of body content in this template.) ]

Use the Table/Figure style, available on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, to get the spacing between table and note. Tables in APA format can use single or 1.5 line spacing.
