Archeology Intro Did you know that the first recorded archologist in the world was in the year 550 BCE, his name was Nabonidus, he was the last king of the Neo-Babylonian empire. Today, I will be sharing information about what is archeology, when it originated, and what are the different fields within this study. Body What is Archeology? -Archeology is often confused with the study of dinosaurs but that is not the case. Jarus, a writer of an article titled What is archeology says in 2022 that archeology is actually the study of humanity and its past. This study is conducted by looking at artifacts, remails, dwellings, and or tools left behind. When and where it originated? -Dowdey, the writer of How archeology works says in 2023 that archeology originated between the 15 th and 16 th century in Europe. -During this time, it was not so much digging but collecting antiquities considering them more art than historical artifacts. When it comes to the subfields of this study there are quit a few. -Acording to an article from the National Parks Service Tittle What are the subfields of archeology, there are about 12 fields within. - Archeoastronomists, Archeopedologists, Environmental Archeologists, Experimental Archeologists, Forensic Archeologists, Geoarcheologists, Historical Archeologists, Paleobotanists and Paleoethnobotanists, Underwater Archeologists, Zooarcheologists. - All of these fields have one thing in common, that is that they in one way or another study our past. Conclusion As I reach the end of my speech, I hope that everyone is more familiar with archeology. What it is, when it originated, and what are other fields within the science of archeology. We now know that archeology focuses on the study of our past, that originated during the 15 th through the 16 th century in Europe, and finally that it has many fields.
